"compelling and perversely provocative."
"John Fournier is a true original: a musician, storyteller
and a theater artist - funny, smart and sublime."
-- Kelly Leonard, Producer, The Second City Theater
"Fournier's consistently entertaining combination of visual and musical storytelling brings the corrupt world of Hollywood silent filmmaking to life. I loved it."
-- Carol Burbank, Chicago Reader

An eclectic mix of Chicago's hottest theatre, comedy, circus and musical artists come together to tell the story of the disgraced silent film star Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle. With a song cycle be local recording artist John Fournier, the revue includes artists from such theatre groups as Second City, Defiant, 500 Clown, and The Hypocrites as well as musical artists Robbie Fulks, Matt Spiegel, and Amy Warren. "Fatty Arbuckle's Spectacular Musical Revue" tells a dark and twisted tale through scene, song, and the proverbial pratfall. It's a concert...It's a play...It's "Fatty Arbuckle's Spectacular Musical Revue."

Directed by Shade Murray; Music and Lyrics by John Fournier; Book by Sarah Gubbins; Choreography by Birgitta Victorson; Set and Light Design by Michelle Habek.

John premiered his multimedia theater performance at Chicago's world-famous Second City Theater. "FATTY" was conceived, written and scored by Fournier and told the story of the infamous trial and scandalous downfall of silent screen legend Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle. This one-of-a-kind performance piece skillfully blended Fournier's flair for the dramatic with an original song cycle and a multimedia montage of rare 1920's film footage, stills and slides. "FATTY" is presently being developed with award winning Director Shade Murray into a large-scale musical theater work by the Second City Theater and will be premiered in the fall of 2003. When asked about the collaboration with Fournier, Second City producer Kelly Leonard commented, "Fournier is a true original: a musician, storyteller and theater artist - funny, smart and sublime."
